You fell for the hype!
“Becoming” made you feel inferior about your book or book idea.
Well, peep this… we all must “become” something, right? Even if it’s a JANITOR! And ain’t nothing wrong with being a JANITOR! Janitors have stories too!
Back to the point of this post:
You MUST change your mindset. Let’s not fall into the Michelle Obama sales hype. Michelle Obama’s book made #1 in the US, Finland, Singapore and Portugal. She deserves that!
SHE. DID. THAT!
But don’t be dismayed. You were NOT the first African American FLOTUS! Your story is not “herSTORY.” She made history and the success of her book is to be expected. And (insert neck roll here), your book does not have to hit #1 on a single list for you to be successful and build multiple streams of income from it.
And, listen…you do not have to be Michelle Obama, a celebrity, reality TV star or even popular to make money from a book. Truth be told, you can “become” an author and create multiple streams of income from it—EVEN IF you never sell one copy.
I’ve written a few books. But guess what? Selling books is not the way I have built my bank account.
Use Michelle Obama as an example. Do you think she made more from a $20 book OR, the tour which sold tickets from $36 to $59,322 to sold out arenas??? I have no proof, but I would venture to say that she’s making a pretty penny from this tour.
Do you want to tour, host speaking engagements and cash out like Michelle Obama? Well, your first Money Making Move is to write a book. Truth is: EVERYONE HAS A STORY TO SELL. Your own unique life experiences are a recipe best for a top selling book. Notice I did’t say BEST SELLER, but TOP SELLER!
In 2020, we should not be making the following excuses:
"I don't have time to write a book."
"I didn't get A's in my English/writing classes."
"I don’t know what to write about?"
"I don’t know if people will buy it?"
If this is you…say BUH-BYE to that frame of mind! They cash checks at the bank, not excuses. You must get out of your own way and stop talking yourself out of your blessings! Seriously...like yesterday!
